Asmini Gombo
Asmini Gombo, a Tanzanian native, has a bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management and is pursuing Chartered status in procurement and supply chain management. She also holds a master’s degree in Business Administration and a certificate of professional practise from the Tanzanian Procurement Board.
Asmini has 4 years experience in various professional levels, including customer service, human resources, office administration, and operations. She also possesses expertise in proposal writing, negotiation, market research, project planning and management. Among her favorite activities are reading, traveling, swimming, and innovating.
She embodies the mantra of persuasion and provides cleaning and hygiene services for commercial and residential properties under Asmik Cleaners and Bin Masters Limited. She advocates for proper waste management systems, maintaining clean and healthy surroundings, working with SDG-13 pioneers to promote the culture of sustainability, ensuring clean environments and ways to combat climate change.
Getrude Joseph Mligo
Getrude Joseph Mligo is a dynamic and successful young leader from Tanzania with a degree in Human Resource Management from Mwalimu Nyerere University. She has been involved in writing, literature, humanitarian work, and the girl power movement since she was 13 years old. As a member of non-governmental organisations (NGOs), she took an active role in humanitarian work. She was a founding member of Nguvu Ya Mwanamke, an organization that breaks the cycle of poverty for marginalized young women in the 15 to 24 year age group. As part of her work for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), Getrude focuses on goals 4, 5, 9 and 17. Her diverse experience encompasses women’s issues, writing, gender equality, social and economic innovation, copywriting, digital inclusion, as well as social media management. She served as the Hodan Addou Country Representative for United Nations Women for a week in 2019 as part of Plan International’s Girls Takeover program. As a young healer, she seeks to find a solution to every problem she sees, believing that “You don’t have to be wealthy to help someone.”
She has written eight books, including, Msichana Mzuri Kutoka Mbinguni, Emeralda, Barua Kwa Wanaume Waliowahi Kuniacha, amongst others. In partnership with the Oledoinye Company in Kenya, Ms. Getrude created the somahub app. The primary goal was to create a direct link between readers and writers. It was founded to assist authors who are unable to publish their books, as well as to help improve children’s writing skills.
2017 saw her listed as one of Africa’s 100 most positive youths. In 2019, she was honoured as one of Tanzania’s “100 sheroes”. Her story was featured in Fema Magazine 54 in 2020. Alsafar, CNN, and Unesco dubbed her one of the Top 10 Ordinary Africans in 2020. She was recognized by UN-Women as an Equality Champion in 2020.
Mary Nsia Mangu
Mary Nsia Mangu holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration, a Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, a certificate of professional status from the Professional Supplies and Procurement Technicians Board, and is a Certified Public Accountant. She is also a member of Tanzania’s safe online space diplomats as well as the African Women Leadership Network.
As a community development advocate, Mary has a particular interest in SDG goal 4, which advocates quality education. She is one of the founders of Success Hands Initiative, an organization dedicated to encouraging children’s reading habits and helping them achieve their full potential. Mary is an outspoken campaigner for the prevention of violence against children and young women. She has six years of experience as a banker, with a focus on risk management, and over five years of experience planning and managing corporate events. Mary is passionate about communication planning. She has spent the last eight years assisting various organisations in improving their communication capabilities.
Reading and writing are two of Mary’s favourite pastimes. She has worked on several concept notes and reports for renowned companies. She launched the #MaleziChanya campaign in July 2019 which is still going strong. It is one of the measures to reduce violence against children. She also leads a movement called #MzazisomanaMwanao, which promotes a reading culture among children. She is a leader in the fight for girls’ rights in sports, particularly football.
As a strong supporter of gender equality, Mary believes that every woman should have the same opportunities as a man. She believes we women can have a greater impact on the community by working together. She is also a reader and lover of literature, who enjoys travel since it enriches her knowledge, and broadens her understanding.
Deborah Emmanuel Kiburwi
Deborah Emmanuel Kiburwi, holds a degree in Anthropology, with a specialism in Medical Anthropology. Her philanthropic work has been lauded by the Brighter Day Foundation and They Need Us Foundation (TNU), both of which provide humanitarian support. During her university years, she was involved in a girl’s rights advocacy group and provided basic healthcare to the elderly. As a humanitarian with a wealth of experience, she has skilfully handled difficult issues and has the skills necessary to identify and treat the common illnesses that plague society. She is a strong advocate for SDG goal 4, high-quality education, and is dedicated to promoting reading habits in society.
